The main objective of the project is to develop mechanisms and tools for the recognition and validation of prior learning.
The developed methods and tools are target especially at adult learners in vulnerable situations and adult trainers working with vulnerable groups of learners. A large proportion of people face severe challenges in getting decent jobs. They may have the necessary skills and competences to do the job but they lack the recognition and validation of their skills. Or they may have skills gaps that could be filled with some specified learning tasks in order to be employed.

The recognition of prior learning processes can help these individuals acquire microcredentials, a certification or even a formal qualification that matches their knowledge and skills, and thereby contribute to improving their employability, mobility, lifelong learning, social inclusion and self-esteem.

OntheMIC- Microcredentials as a means for recognition and validation of learning Erasmus+

Objectives
1) identifying skills and competences of the learner including non-formal and informal learning (digital, simple and visual self-evaluation tool)
2) the identification and definition of learning environment (what kind of skills can be gained in the learning environment) - digital tool
3) the training module for trainers and working life representatives - how to recognise and evaluate the skills of the learner/ what is the recognition and validation process like; who are the actors
4) the collection and presentation of evidence of learning; the assessment and validation of the evidence; and issuing recognized microcredentials, certification or even qualification if claims are valid

Expected results:
• Digital self-assessment tool for assessing one's own skills
• Identifying and Defining Learning Environments - What skills can be learned in a learning environment?
• Training package for trainers and job counselors - how to recognize and assess skills and competencies?
• Competence identification and recognition tool; issuance and certification of micro-credentials

The expected impact and long-term benefits:

  • The participants: The participants will gain knowledge on recognition and validation of adult learning processes. They will learn how to guide adult learners to utilize the self-assessment tool; they will learn how to use the learning environment identification tool <and they will learn about the validation process and how to wayward microcredentials. They will disseminate the knowledge and practical tools they gain also within their own organisation as well as in their networks.
  • Participating organisations: The participating organisations will gain new methods and tools to implement the life long learning process of adult learners thus also enhancing the quality of training and learning. The staff will gain new skills. The organisation will get new tools, methods and practices to recognize and validate adult learners’ skills and competences. The participating organisations will have an opportunity to share experiences and benchmark good practices in use in the partner organisations working with adult learners.
  • Target groups: The impact on the two primary beneficiary groups (adult learners in vulnerable situations and adult trainers) will be twofold: Other relevant stakeholders will get new ideas and concrete tools to use in the recognition and validation processes.
